Sketches! Guest Designer: Sue Daly

I am very excited to announce that this weeks Sketches! Guest Designer is:

Sue Daly

Hi , I am Susan Daly from www.stampndaly.com . I am what I consider to be a hobby Stampin Up! demonstrator. I became a demonstrator in 2003 but have been crafting most of my life. I started stamping before my children were born and then put it aside for awhile. Oh yes, I am a stay at home mom to two children Alicia 12 and Eric 8 and one big child, my husband John ( no not John Daly the golfer, John Daly the hacker). We also have two dogs Nikita, an America Eskimo and Princess, a Cocker Spaniel and one cat, Sparkle.

Before I was a stamper and mother and household engineer ( as I call it), I was a substance abuse counselor and worked with mostly heroin addicts on a methadone program.

I grew up on a farm in Upstate NY and moved to RI for school. Now we live in North Carolina.

So I have been making cards since about 2003. But have been focusing more at it since I became a blogger about a year ago. I was recently accepted on the Design Team of Am I A Scrap Addict. I am slowly trying to apply for other design teams and working toward attempting to have some of my work published.

I go through phases of what my favorite products are. Recently , I started to love lace and vintage looking brads. I truely enjoy making my own background paper and looking around me to see what I can use at home or in nature.

Other things I enjoy are gardening, playing with photography, swimming , genealogy and my family.

I am always willing to help or answer questions so stop by my blog any time.

I asked Sue to choose a Card Sketch. And she chose Card Sketch #58.

And here is the card Sue made using that sketch.

Sketches! Inspiration: September 12th

Here is what I found in the comment section on the Sketches! blog for Layout and Card Sketches #60 and Recipe Challenge #13. I couldn't draw just 10 so I am uploading all 19.

Next Friday I will feature cards and layouts that were made using either Card or Layout Sketch #61, in addition, Recipe Challenge #14. I will draw 10 names from those who linked up their work in the comment section. It needs to be uploaded no later than Wednesday night to be eligible to be featured here on the blog.

Card Sketch #61

Happy Thursday!

This weeks sketch is kind of fun. A nice way to use lots of scraps on your cards. It was designed to be a square card, but you can make it any size or shape you want.

Sketches! Design Team Spotlight: Deanne Burton

I am excited to announce that this weeks Sketches! Design Team Spotlight is:

Deanne Burton

Hi everyone, from Deanne in Newfoundland ,Canada! Hope you are all having a wonderful September! So far, September's been great for me! Even though we've had some beautiful hot days in September, we can certainly feel Fall in the air!!

I'm a mom to 2 teenage boys (most times they were the subject of my layouts!) My oldest is in his last year of high school.My youngest is in Grade 9. I've been married 18 years to Todd, the best man in the world!!!

I'm a teacher of a wonderful group of grade 6's! All 15 of them!

I've been on Tamara's design team since Jan '08 and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks so much, Tamara for the awesome opportunity!

"Creating" art has always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was always content when I had a crayon, a pencil, and some paper nearby.

As a young girl, I "designed" and sewed my own Barbie clothes! As a teenager I learned how to knit, cross-stitch and quilt.

I have created "scrapbooks" ever since I was a teenager and kept gum wrappers, hand-written notes, and other memorabilia of my high-school and university years .

When I began seeing scrapbooking on the internet a few years ago, I had my own tole painting online store and I TRIED to stay away from scrapbooking for as long as I could because I KNEW that once I took the plunge, there was
no turning back! I began to create what you would call a REAL scrapbook in the Fall of 2003.

And THIS year I have taken another plunge and have become a Stampin' Up demonstrator! So, now I am not only addicted to scrapbooking, but also card-making!

My sisters and I also have a blog called "Sisterhood of Scrap". ( http://sisterhoodofscrap.blogspot.com/ ) Every week
we choose a scrapping "sister" to highlight and honor. We share scrapping ideas and inspiration every day.

I have enjoyed all of Tamara's blog and it's difficult to choose just one!!! But I guess I have to! So, it's ...let's see...layout sketch #51!

Thank You Deanne for all the time you have put into the Sketches! {by tamara} blog. It is because of the Design Team Members that this blog has grown so much and I appreciate you.

Scrapping Recipe Challenge #14

These challenges can be used on cards or layouts.

I will give a list of three items that must be used on a card or layout. You are not limited to only the three items listed. You can use as many items on your layout or cards as you wish. But the minimum on it must be what is listed in the recipe.

This weeks Recipe came from Edleen, one of the Recipe Design Team Members.

Create a card or layout using the following items:

• Buttons
• Flowers
