12 x 12 Layout Sketch #18

Today is kind of a blah type of day. Here in Germany, it is raining. It is not a down pour, but more of a constant fall. I used to love the rain until I moved here to Germany. It rains way too much through out the year for my liking.

But this is an exciting week for me. We have a holiday here on Thursday. And with that, the kids have Thursday and Friday off of school. My husband informed me that he took off the Friday after the Holiday and he also took off the Wednesday before the holiday. I am so excited. I am hoping that I will be able to scrap a bit while he is home. I need to get some swaps I am in finished, so it would be nice if I could get a day free and just sit and scrap.

I would like to thank Angela Beadle for this weeks sample for the sketch. I love Angela's pages and am happy that she has shared with us a sample once again.

Leave me a comment and let me know how you are today, How you like the sketch or even a link to your layout using the sketch.

Have a great Monday!

Journaling Challenge #5

Happy Friday!

I am always excited for the weekend. Having another adult around the house where I can actually accomplish something for myself is what I really look forward to. Perhaps that means I will be able to scrap tomorrow. There are no excuses anymore, because the heat company came out today and turned on our heater. Oh, I am so excited to have warm floors again. (we have heated floors in our house).

So for todays challenge, When doing your journaling on your layout, Highlight or make certain words or letters stick out. You can make them bold when printing them or even make certain words bigger than others. You could use other things like stickers or chipboard to make certain letters or words stick out from the rest of the journaling.

I can't wait to see what you come up with. I'd love you to link up your layout when you complete this challenge if you feel like sharing.

Have a Fabulous Weekend!

Card Sketch #17

Happy Thursday!

Last night, I braved the cold in my scrap area to crank out this card. And I have to tell ya, it didn't take long at all. Obviously, mine is pretty simple. I was too cold to play with it. And I am usually all about embellishments. But even with just paper and ink, it turned out fine.

I can't wait to see what you do with this sketch. If you use the sketch and would like to share your card, just link it up in the comment section. And honestly, comments of any kind are welcome. It helps me to know that *someone* stops by and checks out the sketch.

Have a great day!

My Weekend Projects

So I thought I would share my scrap projects I completed this past weekend instead of a challenge. Maybe something I have here will inspire you.

I participated in an online crop at Scrap Freak. They had new Projects and Challenges every hour. Here is what I was able to complete:

Challenge #1 was to Points Add Up. We got points for certain thing we used on our layouts. For each brad, each piece of Pattern Paper, Each piece of ribbon, ect. I also used one of my sketches, Sketch #13.

Challenge #2 was a sketch from Becky Fleck of Page Maps. She designed a special Sketch just for us Scrap Freak Gals. Here is my take on her sketch.

Challenge #3 was Opposites Attract. We were to use the color wheel and use two colors that were opposite from each other. Mine is Orange and Blue. I also used one of my sketches for this challenge, Sketch #16.

Challenge #4 Was Going in Circles. This was a fun one for me. I used one of my sketches, Sketch #15.

Project #1 was Got Candy? We altered a jar. I decided to use mine for my scrap table for pens, scissors, ect instead of candy.

Project #2 was Bind It Up. We altered these big clips and they are to display a photo. They are super easy and super cute.

Project #4 is Clam Up! We used the Clam Shells that all of our scrap supplies come in and altered it into a gift giving opportunity. Mine needs more things on it, but I had already sealed it up. Next time, I will alter it more before I finish it off.

Project #5 was Let's Bag It! We made bag toppers or, you could dress up a gift bag. I went for the bag toppers. I put a bag of German Chocolate together. YUM

There is still challenges #5 and #6 along with Project #4 and one Fall Card that I need to complete to have everything done. The online crop is over, and the winner of the $50 Gift Certificate was already announced. But Monica from Scrap Freak is offering a special something for all of us that have everything challenge and project completed by this coming Sunday. I plan on trying to finish up.

I had a lot of fun this last weekend. And I hope to find more time to scrap as it really was a much needed change of pace for me.

Have a fabulous day.

12 x 12 Layout Sketch #16

Happy Monday!

Things around my house are starting to settle down a little. After being in the Hospital for a few days last week, and then I had a big scrap weekend over at Scrap Freak, I am happy that I now can start to get back to what is more of a normal routine here at home.

As I mentioned, this past weekend was Scrap Freaks big Spooky Freakfest. It was a lot of fun and I got a few projects completed, I won during one of the bingo games that we played, I got to chat with Becky Fleck of Page Maps, and then Monica, the owner of Scrap Freak also offered 25% off everything in the store. So of course, I did some shopping. The biggest thing though, Is now I am more than motivated to do more scrapping. I plan on sharing some of the awesome projects we did a long with my layouts I finished here tomorrow.

Here is the newest sketch. Thank you to Sara Fink for submitting a layout to share with us. Remember that you too can submit a layout if you like. Just send me an email.

I'd love to see your layouts you complete using this sketch if you feel like sharing. Just link it up in the comments section.

Have a fabulous day.

Card Sketch #15

Happy Thursday! I can't believe the week is almost over. I feel like it just started. But I also know it is because I was gone Monday and Tuesday. Just a strange feeling. But even though I feel like the week just began, I am very excited for the weekend.

For the first time in more than 1 1/2 years, I am going to scrap with someone. Coni, who I have met through Scrap Freak, is coming over and we are scrapping together. I honestly can't wait. I used to go away a good 8 times a year for scrap weekends. So I am really looking forward to this.

This weeks card sketch is a round one. I know I just did a round sketch for World Card Making Day, but this was already chosen for this weeks sketch before that time. Unfortunately, I don't have any samples of this sketch. I am planning on doing mine this weekend while Coni is here.

I'd love to see your card if you use the sketch. Just leave a comment with the link to your card.

Have a great day!

12 X 12 Layout Sketch #15

It is so very good to be home! Thanks to everyone who sent me get well wishes. And I especially thank my husband for coming on and letting you all know why I didn't upload a sketch on Monday. That was the first thing out of my mouth when they told me I was being admitted to the hospital Sunday night.

The second thing I worried about as they were telling me how long they planned on keeping me was me missing the Freak Fest this coming weekend.

Are you up for something SPOOKY? Join us this weekend (Oct. 12th–14th) for Freakfest 2007 at ScrapFreak.com. Freakfest is a fun filled online crop with ghoulish challenges, batty contests, apple dunking games, witchy prizes and much more. Sounds fun, doesnt it???!!! Well, thats not all - - - the grand prize winner receives a $50 gift certificate to the Scrapfreak store!!!!

Make sure you stop by and chat with Becky Fleck from Pagemaps.com on Saturday at 2pm CST. You won't want to miss the exclusive sketch that Becky Fleck has created for the crop.

So, go cancel all your plans and join us for a good time!!!

The Freakfest Schedule of Events can be seen here.

Now, on to this week sketch. I want to thank Michelle and Sara for sharing their layouts they made for this sketch. I always enjoy seeing how other people bring the sketch to life and make it their own.

I'll be back tomorrow with a card sketch. And I am planning on updating my personal blog, Living in Germany, with my experiences and thoughts about the whole Hospital stay. I probably won't get around to it until tomorrow though. Lots to be done here at home since I was gone for a few days.

Have a great day!

Tamara has ReEntered the Building

DH here again.

I am writing to let you all know that Tamara is back home. She is suffering from a bladder infection and drinking tons and tons of Preiselbeere juice to help the infection heal. Preielbeere are little berries like cranberries, which are not readily available in Germany.

This is great news for us and we are blessed to have her return and grateful it was not more serious. You can read more of the details of the last two days (mostly my details from back home) on our Living in Germany blog.

Tamara should be back in full, well, at least partial, swing tomorrow.

Tamara Has Left the Building

This is Tamara's DH. Just writing to let you know why Tamara has not posted any new updates today.

Tamara is suffering from a bladder infection, which we and the doctor originally thought was appendicitis. The bladder infection was definitely very painful and so it is good not to have to worry about the kids for a day or two. But Tamara is so ready to come home. She said, don't they just send you home with cranberry juice and some pain reliever in the U.S.? The medical or health care system here in Germany is a bit more cautious and wanted to observe Tamara for a few days.

We went to the hospital emergency room on Sunday night and because the signs pointed to appendicitis the doctor wanted to check her in right away. The other option was to have her come back at 9 a.m. the next morning. This was after midnight on Sunday, so we decided to have her admitted.

Tamara is doing well. I will be posting some details on our Living in Germany blog.

Card Sketch #14

As I have mentioned several times this past week, my in laws are in town visiting us here in Germany. So things have been pretty crazy. We try to do so much stuff that I am exhausted by the time it is bedtime. Other times, we hang out with one another and I am still exhausted when it is time for bed. Tomorrow, they leave and fly back to America. So my life should settle down a little bit.

This weeks card sketch is a very simple sketch. And even though it is simple, I had no time to sit down and make my own card from the sketch yet. (remember those in laws I was talking about. ) And I also had no one submit cards to upload with the sketch.

I hope you enjoy the sketch. Have a fabulous Thursday!

Wednesday Happenings

So, I went out of town. It was just a short over night deal. Because it was such a short trip, I am very exhausted. It is 9:45 pm here in Germany. So, with that, I am skipping a challenge I would of normally uploaded for today.

But I will be back on tomorrow, bright and early with a new card sketch!

Chocolate Winner Part 2

Well, who is perfect? Not me. And I will be the first to admit it.

While doing the drawing for the chocolate, I left out Sandy. Sandy uploaded a great card during the week. As you can see, I made a mistake. So in my effort to make things right, I asked Sandy for her address so I could also send her a bit of chocolate as well.

Now, here is her fabulous card.

Sorry Sandy for the mistake!
