Scrapping Recipe Challenge #17

These challenges can be used on cards or layouts.

I will give a list of three items that must be used on a card or layout. You are not limited to only the three items listed. You can use as many items on your layout or cards as you wish. But the minimum on it must be what is listed in the recipe.

This weeks Recipe came from Kathleen, one of the Recipe Design Team Members.

Create a card or layout using the following items:
  • Use something clear- clear transparency, clear button, ghost shape, etc.
  • Ribbon
  • stampin' dimensionals or something else to give your project dimension

Check out what the Design Team did with this recipe.

Also, I would like to welcome Maria onto the Design Team. You can check out her first card below.

I am sad to see Brenda step down from the Design Team. She has been a part of the Sketches! Design Team for a long time. She had damage to her house (a tree landing on it) during a huge storm and had to pack up her scrap room for awhile so her house could be repaired. Brenda, I wish you the best of luck!

As usual, if you would like to share your take on this challenge, link it up in the comment section. Your layout or card could be featured here on the Sketches! Blog for our Friday Inspiration next week.

Have a great day Everyone!

Sketches! Guest Designer: Maria Gurnsey

In addition to Maria being todays Guest Designer, she is also joining us on the Sketches! Recipe Design Team. She will be posting her first card this Tuesday!
I am excited to announce that this weeks Sketches! Guest Designer is:
Maria Gurnsey

Hi, my name is Maria Gurnsey and I’m from Colorado. I’ve lived here all my life and most recently moved to Eaton with my husband and kids. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband Mike for 6 years and we have three beautiful kids, Macy, Mattea and Miller. Yes, we are all M’s!!!!

I began scrapbooking about 8 years ago and have been hooked since. It wasn’t until we moved to Eaton and I came across the blog of a local Stampin Up demonstrator that I became hooked on stamping. I placed my very first stamp order in January of this year and became an SU demo in February. I started my blog Scraps By M when I joined SU. I was incredibly fascinated with this “stamping world” and how wonderful everyone’s creations are. I couldn’t wait to begin posting my own work. I’ve learned so much in the short 8 months that I have been stamping. I check out my favorite blogs daily and try not to miss any of my favorite challenges. I’m definitely a challenge junkie (sketches are my favorite)

I get inspiration for my cards everywhere. Pictures, my kids clothes, magazines, catalogs, fellow bloggers…I see inspiration in it all. I would say my over all style would be a bit vintage. I love all things old and my card style generally reflects that. I have a hard time not distressing a card in some way. Sponging the edges is my favorite. A card just doesn’t feel complete without it!

Thanks for checking out my guest designer card and thanks to Tamara for adding me to the recipe team. I’m very excited to be a part of it and I can’t wait to show you all more of my creations!!

I asked Maria to choose one of her favorite card sketches, and she chose card sketch #59.

And here is her card she made using that sketch.

Sketches! Inspiration: September 26th

I found 28 Cards and Layouts in the comment section on the Sketches! blog for Layout and Card Sketches #62 and Recipe Challenge #15. I did a random drawing. And here are this weeks 10 Featured Cards and Layouts.

Next Friday I will feature cards and layouts that were made using either Card or Layout Sketch #63, in addition, Recipe Challenge #16. I will draw 10 names from those who linked up their work in the comment section. It needs to be uploaded no later than Wednesday night to be eligible to be featured here on the blog.

Have a great weekend!

Sketches! Design Team Spotlight: Becky Givans

I am excited to announce that this weeks Sketches! Design Team Spotlight is:

Becky Givans

Hi, my name is Becky Givans but most people in the stamping world know me as tggrfriend. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 28 years and together we have three beautiful children, two girls (18 and 15) and a boy (11). I was a stay at home mom up until three weeks ago, when I rejoined the workforce. Now I work with special needs children and find it very rewarding.

I have been a crafter pretty much all my life but only discovered stamping eight years ago when my best friend invited me to a stamp party at her house. The minute I put stamp to paper I was hooked. I love to scrapbook, alter items and make cards. My favorite of the three is definitely card making. The highlight of my stamping journey was being published last year in Take Ten magazine and being accepted as a design team member for Sketches.

I asked Becky to choose her favorite Card Sketch since being on the Sketches! Card Design Team. And she chose Card Sketch # 59.

Thank you so much Becky for all the fabulous cards you make each week. I am in total amazement at your awesome cards and your creativity with the Sketches! Thanks for being a member of the Sketches! Card Design Team.
