Card Sketch #9

Here is the next card sketch. I personally have not finished mine yet. I have been too lazy I guess. Or perhaps, too pre-occupied. I need to learn to step away from my computer. I could get so much more done if I would just learn to close my lap top and find something else to do.

I will be completing this sketch today at some point. My son, Ian, will be turning one tomorrow. So, I will be making this card for his birthday. There are so many things to do as we are having a big grilling night with friends. We have no family around but wanted to still make it special. And I need to make him a big number one cake where he gets to have at it all by himself. Does anyone else do this? And let's not even get started on the last minute birthday shopping I need to do. He needs at least one present to open from me. Such a procrastinator!

There is just one more day left to get your layouts in for the August Sketch Challenge. So far, there are only 2 entries. So the odds of winning are pretty good at this rate.

On to our Card Sketch! I'd love to see your card. Just link it up in the comment section if you would like to share.

Have a Great Day!

12 X 12 Sketch #9

Yesterday I got an email from my Mom. It said that my Grandpa had died while he was sleeping. My Grandpa had Alzheimers and really has been going down hill fast over the last year. When I saw him last, it was the weekend before I moved here to Germany. I knew in my heart, that would be the last time I would see both my Grandparents. And I was right. My Grandma died the month after I moved and now my Grandpa. As much as we are all relieved that he is suffering no more, there is a big part of me that is still sad. And it is so hard knowing I can't make it back for the funeral.

So with receiving this news, it has made me think about my scrapping a bit more. I don't really have any layouts of my Grandparents in my Scrapbooks. It is mainly my kids that I scrap. So, I decided I was going to take this sketch (#9) and make a layout about my Grandpa and Grandma.

I can't wait to see what you decide to do with it. Just link it up in the comment section if you are willing to share.

Just a reminder that our August Sketch Challenge ends on Friday. So far, we only have one entry. So if you want a shot at the $10 Gift Certificate, you need to get your layout uploaded before Friday! Come and Join the fun!

Card Sketch #8

I have had a busy week so far. Yesterday I spent more than 4 hours with my daughter at the denstist. That was an ordeal all in itself. You can actually read about it on my personal blog: Living In Germany

Anyway, while I was there, I drew up a few sketches. I take my sketch book almost everywhere I go and when I have time, I try to draw up a few new ones. It is great because inspiration can come from anything and anywhere. And as much as there are several sketches I started yesterday, I don't like them all yet. But there were two that I said, OK....they are great just the way they are. So fun when that happens.

I love seeing how all the sketches come together. Meaning, the finished product that you all make with the sketch. A sketch is just that a sketch until someone takes that sketch and creates something using it. And I just love seeing how everyone interprets the sketches and how they make it their own.

With that said, I would love to see what you do with this sketch. There are a few examples here from our Sketches! Team and also from our Sketches! Friends. Feel free to join us sometime. Just shoot me an email and let me know you would also like to get a sketch early and then your layout or card can be featured here.

Please link your creation up in the comments section if you feel like sharing.

12 X 12 Sketch #8

Welcome to the new website! I hope we haven't lost anyone. Yes, the website has changed. I began to realize how running two seperate blogs for Sketches! seemed so pointless and also time consuming. I had thought about it for probably a month when I decided to just go ahead and make the switch. It is better to make the switch earlier in the game, then later, I believe anyway.

So here we now are. Make sure you make the changes in your favorites. Make sure you book mark the new site. I don't want to lose anyone. :)

I am very excited about some changes I have made during the switch. Not only do we have our Sketches! Team, but we now also have Sketches! Friends. Our Sketches! Team are those who on a regular basis submit layouts. Sketches! Friends are those of you out there who want to submit a layout here, but only want to do it every now and then. So if you decide you want to join our Sketches Team! or be a Sketches! Friend, then please email me. I'll give ya all the details.

I love this next sketch. I don't think I loved it as much until I started seeing everyone's layouts. And to me, each layout is different. And yet, I love them all. I can't wait to see what everyone will create using this layout.

I would LOVE to see the layouts you create. Please link it up in the comments section if you feel comfortable enough.

I will be back on Thursday to share a new Card Sketch with you, if I don't stop in sooner for other things.

Have a Fabulous Week!

~Tamara~

12 X 12 Sketch #7

Happy Monday!

So, School has been back in for one week here in Germany. We are starting to get into a good schedule with what needs to get done and I am finding time to actually get things accomplished again. And that includes scrapping.

I know that summer is starting to wind down for those of you in the states. And with that, the design team members from Sketches! should be able to start submitting layouts for the sketches again within a few weeks. Life just gets crazy and hectic, especially during the summer.

If anyone wants to submit layouts for me to upload with the sketches, just email me at scrapbooksketches@gmail.com and I can send you an upcoming sketch. I post sketches every Monday and love having layouts to help inspire everyone.

Hope you have a fabulous week!

12 X 12 Sketch #6

So another week is here. It is so crazy how time is flying by. School started today here and my daughter who is 6 started school for the first time. So it was a very busy day and that is why I am a little later than usual getting this sketch up.

Don't forget about our August Sketch Contest that is going on right now. You could win a $10 Gift Certificate. Check out all the details in the post from last week.

Now onto the new sketch! Enjoy!

August Sketch Contest/Challenge

Sketches! is having our very first contest. It will run from August 1 – August 31st. The winner will be announced on September 1st.

The Prize: A $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Freak Online Store. Scrap Freak is an online Scrapbooking Community. If you have not seen this site yet, I recommend taking a look. It is a relatively new place, but a very fun place! http://www.scrapfreak.com/

To Enter: You must complete a 12 X 12 layout using the sketch provided. Leave a link in the comment section to your completed layout along with your name. It is that simple.

I will do a random drawing and the winner will be announced on September 1st. The winner will have one week to contact me with their name and email address. At that time, if I have not heard from the winner, a new winner will be picked.

Would you like more than one entry into the drawing? Get all your friends and family members to also enter the contest. When they do, they need to say that YOU referred them to the contest. And then you both will get your names entered for their layouts. So the more people who you get to join in the fun, the more chances you have of winning.

**this contest is not sponsored or affiliated with Scrap Freak. Because I live over seas, a gift certificate is easier to offer than scrap goodies. Plus, who doesn’t like to pick out their own scrap supplies?
